Which app this is
CJS - Scam Check & Gov Jobs is our Android app on Google Play, identified there by the package name za.co.zamoo.careers. The same account works on the CheckJobScam website, and deleting it here deletes it in both places.
Delete it now
Sign in with the Google account you use in the app. That is how we check the account is yours. There is no form to fill in and nothing to wait for.
What gets deleted
Immediately, and permanently:
- Your CV profile, including your work history, schooling, skills and referees
- Your Z83 answers, including your ID number and the equity questions, if given
- Your saved jobs and whether you marked them applied
- Your closing-date reminders and your notification history
- The push registration for every device you signed in on
- Your name, email address and profile photo, and the sign-in itself
What stays, and why
If you shared a job advert to the community feed, the advert stays and your name and photo come off it. Other people are relying on those posts. Several of them are warnings about companies that turned out to be scams, and removing them would take that warning away from strangers who had no say in it. What is removed is the link between the post and you: it is no longer attributable to your account.
Anything you asked us to check stays only as an anonymous count, with no name, email or link in it. We never kept the text you pasted.
Documents you already generated and downloaded are yours and are on your own device. We do not hold copies.
From inside the app
You can also do this on your phone: open the You tab, then Delete account. It is the same deletion and takes effect at once.
If you would rather ask us
Email hello@checkjobscam.co.za from the address you signed in with, with the subject Delete my account. We will do it within 30 days and confirm when it is done. Use this if you have lost access to the Google account and cannot sign in.
Our privacy policy explains what we hold and for how long.
