What happens to your report
The numbers and addresses you give become searchable on the lookup page, so the next person who is contacted from the same number finds your report. Nothing is sent to the person you report, and your name is never attached. Where the same company is reported several times it gets a page setting out what was reported.
Reporting here is not reporting to the police
This list warns other job seekers. It does not open a criminal case and it cannot recover money. If you have lost money or handed over your ID document, phone your bank first and then open a case at any SAPS station. The steps for that are here. Do both if you can: the case protects you, the report protects the next person.
If you are not certain
Report it anyway if something was asked of you that a real employer would never ask: money to apply, an ID document before an interview, or payment through PEP or eWallet. If you simply want to know whether a message is genuine, paste it into the checker instead. A company is only given a page of its own once several people have reported it independently.
