National Senior Certificate plus an undergraduate Qualification (NQF Level 6) in Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies, Journalism and Graphic Design as recognised by SAQA. Three to Five (3-5) years’ experience at supervisory level within the communication environment. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft packages Ms word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Outlook. Code EB. Must be prepared to work on weekends and public holidays. Video production and editing will be an added advantage.
Duties
Facilitate the conceptualisation and design of multi-media products. Design newsletters, brochures, and publications for internal and external stakeholders. Design content for the departmental website. Monitor and update the website content and social media platforms. Align departmental information publications, products and website content with corporate identity and departmental mandate. Facilitate the development and implementation of Communication Action Plan (CAP). Source strategic documents including MEC Policy Speech. Develop draft Communication Action Plan (CAP). Review and quality assure the CAP. Facilitate the implementation of the CAP. Facilitate the implementation of the Local Government Communication Forum Draft action plan for the event. Develop CAP for events of Traditional and Khoi-San leadership institutions. Package information about the event and ensure signage is clear and visible. Write articles, take photographs, conduct interviews about the event and post to departmental websites. Monitor communication forum events calendar. Manage allocated resources Maintain high standards by ensuring that the team/section produces excellent work in terms of quality/quantity and timeliness. Resolve problems of motivation and control with minimum guidance from manager. Delegate functions to staff based on individual potential, provide the necessary guidance and support, and afford staff adequate training and development opportunities. Ensure timeous development of job description, implementation of Work Plans and Personal Development Plans (PDP’s) for all employees in the section. Manage daily employee performance and ensure timely Performance Assessments of all subordinates. Ensure management, maintenance and safekeeping of assets.
