Requirements
Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the HPCSA as a (Independent practitioner) Diagnostic Radiographer. Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Diagnostic Radiographer registration with the HPCSA. Inherent requirements of the job: Must be willing to work shifts when required. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to manage and supervise the Radiography Department with knowledge, experience and skills in general, trauma, emergency, theatre, mobile radiography and Computerised Tomography; PACS and RIS experience will be advantageous. Thorough knowledge of radiation protection, quality assurance, equipment safety and equipment evaluation, pertaining to radiography. Extensive experience and knowledge of radiography protocols. The candidate must be computer literate and good communication skill (written and verbal).
Duties
Responsible for the control, supervision, delegation and co-ordination of the imaging service of the Radiology department and the delivery of a professional service to patients. Produce diagnostic images of high quality and be responsible for staff and student training. Management of the cost centre, inventory and supplies. Manage radiography and support personnel, including performance appraisals. Ensure quality assurance, maintenance of equipment and the purchase, use and care of suitable radiation protection equipment. Participate in hospital management and delegated tasks, including statistic collation and provide support to the Hospital Management.
