A National Diploma in Civil Engineering. Six (6) years' post-qualification technical engineering experience in civil engineering. Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician. The disclosure of a valid unexpired driver's license. Proven experience in project and programme management. Sound technical design and analytical skills. Knowledge of computer-aided engineering applications, legal compliance, and contract management. Excellent technical report writing, problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, creativity, and customer focus skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Computer literacy. People management and budget management skills. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993), and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
Duties
Manage and monitor civil engineering processes within government water schemes and water user associations. Manage administrative and related functions. Monitor the implementation of capital- and operationally funded projects through site inspections, site meetings, and the compilation and submission of progress reports. Conduct condition assessments of infrastructure and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including dam safety regulations. Draft civil engineering project specifications and facilitate the implementation and contract management of civil engineering projects. Conduct research and development initiatives to support the effective management and maintenance of water infrastructure. Provide technical advice and support to ensure the sustainable operation of government water schemes and water user associations.
