Formal tertiary qualification (Dental Therapist) that allows for the required registration with HPCSA in the relevant profession. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in the relevant profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Services, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Services, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Services, as required in South Africa. Knowledge And Skills: Good interpersonal skills. Ability to perform under pressure and after hours. Good organizing and communication skills (written and verbal). Computer literacy. Dental Therapist experience.
Duties
Providing emergency treatments for oral pain, managing dental sepsis, and treating post-extraction complications. Executing direct restorations (fillings) and placing fissure sealants. Performing scaling, root planning, and polishing to prevent and treat gum disease. Conducting oral health education and promotion programs in schools, community facilities, and public institutions. Maintaining clinical areas, sterilizing instruments, applying universal precautions to prevent cross-infection, and adhering to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations. Managing patient clinical records, bookings, correspondence, and inventory/stock control for dental materials and equipment. Providing relief services across various sub-district clinics, mobile dental vans, and correctional facilities as scheduled by provincial health departments.
