The successful candidate should have Grade 12 Certificate plus a National Diploma/ Degree (NQF level 6/7) in Sports and Recreation / Sports Science / Exercise Science / Physical Education / Sports Development/Sports Administration or relevant qualification. A minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in supervisory level and relevant experience in middle management (ASD) level and relevant experience in sport and recreation environment. Valid driver’s license. Skills: Communication skills, Presentation skills, Budgeting, Research, Analytical thinking, Interpersonal Skills and Project Management Skills Knowledge: Government policies and programmes, Knowledge of Sport and Recreation, Regulations and procedures in required environment, Finance, and HR Matters.
Duties
Manage the development of policies, business plan, strategies and procedure for sports implementation: Review and understand departmental vision, mission, Develop communication and implementation plan. Manage the promotion of mass participation among the learners, promote healthy lifestyles and inculcate sportsmanship and competitiveness: offer diverse physical activities to ensure inclusivity in the corridor, organise sports events like tournaments and festivals that focus on fun, not just winning and integrate health and nutrition education into programs. Manage the provision of sport development and talent identification in the corridors: Establish partnerships, implement structured identification systems, Offer scientific and medical support. Manage the provision of sport and community recreation programmes in the corridor: Developing strategic plans aligned with national mandates, creating accessible mass participation and elite development opportunities, Ensuring equitable access to facilities and resources. Manage the provision of school sport programme the corridor: Engaging the community, Developing clear policies and plans, securing and managing resources like facilities and equipment, supporting and training staff, Implementing diverse activities for all abilities. Manage resources (Human, Financial, Equipment / Assets): Manage utilization of financial and physical resources, conduct strategic and operational planning for the EHW sub directorate, Authorise, control and monitor the budget and expenditure.
