Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietician. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietician. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of RSA qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of SA qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Dietician in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work overtime. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Thorough knowledge and exposure to all aspects relating to clinical Dietetics. Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Skills should include computer literacy, facilitation, presentation and project coordination.

Duties

Clinical nutrition management of in and out-patients in assigned area. Development of patient education materials. Development and updating of clinical nutrition protocols. Participate in in-service training and mentoring of all categories of personnel and students on nutrition related topics. General administration including assisting with planning, reporting activities conducted, and monitoring of nutritional programmes.
