Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees. A Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Inherent requirements of the job: Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB). Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant Acts and Public Service Policies and Procedures. Experience with the Infant Neuromotor Assessment (INA) as a screening tool as well as experience in infant assessment and treatment of infants. Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team. Computer literacy.
Duties
Assess, treat and manage patients within a Primary Health Care setting, including the Community Based Services program and COPC. Manage the Mobility Assistive Devices (MAD) component of the primary health care facility. Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team of the primary health facility to meet the rehabilitation needs of patient. Conduct Health Events planning (outreaches) and training. Assist in the clinical mentoring and supervision of undergraduate students. Be responsible for administration related to patient care as well as departmental administration. Management of assets in allocated work area.
