Requirements
Matric plus appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA in Occupational Therapy. Registration with the HPCSA in Occupational Therapy. A minimum of 3 years' appropriate experience after registration with HPCSA in Occupational Therapy of which 5 years must be appropriate experience in management or supervisory management. Currently registered with HPCSA (2026/2027). A valid vehicle drivers licence. Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of health policies and regulations. Excellent strategic planning, project and financial management. Outstanding communication, analytical and computer literacy.
Duties
Provide overall leadership for provincial occupational therapy services. Plan, coordinate and monitor OT programs in line with national and Free State Health strategies (e.g. National Health Plan, National Rehabilitation Policy, and Primary Health Care Re-engineering). Develop, implement and review occupational therapy policies, guidelines and standards. Ensure provincial OT practices meet legislative and professional requirements (including HPCSA and DoH norms). Assist in managing resources for OT services including - preparing and monitoring budgets, procuring specialised equipment/supplies, and ensuring maintenance of therapeutic assets. Oversee recruitment, supervision and performance management of OT staff. Coordinate training, student placements and continuing professional development (CPD)initiatives to build staff capacity. Liaise with hospitals, district health offices, academic institutions (OT training programs), professional bodies (e.g. SACOT/OTASA) and other stakeholders to promote integrated OT services. Represent the department in relevant forums, working groups and interdepartmental initiatives. Monitor key performance indicators for OT services and compile regular reports (e.g. the annual OT program report) for senior management. Ensure service delivery meets quality standards and Batho Pele customer service principles.
