Requirements

Minimum requirement: Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Experience: Appropriate experience in preparing patient meals in hospitals environment. Inherent requirement of the job: Physically strong to lift heavy objects and be on their feet the entire day. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, overtime and public holidays. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good communicate skills (read, speak and write). Appropriate knowledge of hygiene, occupational health, HACCP and safety principles. The ability to prepare meals according to standardized recipes.

Duties

Provision of food services, including pre-preparation and preparation of normal and special diets as well as dishing up and distribution of the meals. Assist with the receiving and storage of perishables and groceries. Implement and control hygienic environment according to occupational health and safety prescripts including infection control. Assist with the informal in-service training of new employees in the unit.
