Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse OR a 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years of appropriate/recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing. Inherent requirements of the job: Prepared to work at different facilities within the Sub District, inclusive of Mobile facilities, when needed within the community (COPC concept). Valid (code B/EB) driver’s licence. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing). Knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and policy related to nursing within the public sector. Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) to be able to communicate, capture patient information, check results, capture data, and track referrals on the different electronic systems. Ability to promote quality patient care through the implementation of protocols, guidelines, and standards.

Duties

Provision of quality basic nursing patient centred care in a Clinic setting. Provision of optimal, holistic clinical and elementary nursing care with set standards and within a professional/legal framework. Effective utilisation of human and financial resources, Information management and support services. Improving quality of health services. Community participation, outreach and support. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
