Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Or A 4 year bachelor’s degree in nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse or A 3 year Diploma in Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) AS A General Nurse. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse or General Nurse. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse. Inherent requirements of the job: Work Shifts Including Weekends, Public Holidays and Night Duty. Ability to lift and turn patients, stand for long hours and lift heavy equipment. Rotate to other departments, excluding Maternity department. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of Infection Prevention Control, control measures and practices. Knowledge of Nursing Practices. Problem solving, report writing, liaison and facilitation skills. Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and use of Internet. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).

Duties

Provision of quality nursing care within set standards. Effective human resource utilization and development. Effective Monitoring of Financial Resources. Initiate and participate in research and data collection.
